What is a rheology modifier?
Rheology modifiers are crucial components in cosmetic and personal care formulations, playing a key role in managing viscosity, texture, and stability.
What types of rheology modifiers are available?
For oil in water emulsions - water phase - use
Gums(N)
Guar derivatives(NDS)
Cellulose derivatives(NDS)
Polymers(S)
Natural (Naturally derived)
NDS (Naturally derived with a synthetic portion)
S (Synthetically derived)
Note:
Gums need to be slurried in a humectant for complete hydration.
Some Guar derivative needs to be acidified for faster hydration
To ensure complete hydration, cellulose derivatives need to be neutralized to a pH of 8.
Polymers, such as carbomer, require neutralization.
